Valley Arcade has a couple of stalls that sell authentic African wear and jewelry. It also has a butchery, a dry cleaning store, a wines and spirits shop and a small supermarket.

The junction is just ten minutes away by foot. This is the biggest mall in the area with stores such as Carrefour , Woolworths, Kazuri(a shop that sells beautiful African beadwork), Kikoy, (a store where you can buy a local fabric known as kikoy and accessories made from it) Clarks, Healthy U, Levi’s and Sir Henry’s, Zucchini (for fresh vegetables) among a long list of fabulous stores.

The junction also hosts a musical Maasai Market every Thursday on its rooftop parking area, from 9 am to 7 pm. This is the perfect place for you to buy a souvenir that will remind of you Kenya. The Maasai market offers a wide array of products for sale such as African jewellery, sculptures, curios, paintings, fabrics, masks, mats, sisal baskets, beaded artefacts and batiks. You will be entertained by the colorful dance performances and live music as you shop.

Prestige Plaza is located just 10 minutes away by car. There are various food courts, Nakumatt Supermarket, Forex bureaus, banks, chemists, beauty shops, jewellery shops, movie theater and Aghakan Hospital.

The Greenhouse is a fantastic place to have lunch and do some shopping.

Yaya Center is located ten minutes by car from the apartment. It houses various amazing eateries and useful amenities. The Maasai Market is now being hosted indoors on Sundays on the third floor of the Yaya Centre, between 9am and 5pm

NightLife

Casablanca is a hip Moroccan-style nightclub in a central position of Nairobi, easy to reach from all areas. It attracts travelers, expats and locals and because it’s not huge, it tends to have a very friendly and sociable atmosphere! Late nights/early mornings are practically guaranteed! The club is divided into 3 areas all based on a Bedouin/North African theme: The inner lounge area resembles a Bedouin tent, filled with brightly coloured cushioned seats, Shisha pipes and it has an international atmosphere. It’s a great place to relax, sprawl, socialise and people watch in this smoky atmospheric environment. The dance area and bar is small and intimate, a great place to let go of your inhibitions and dance to the funky mix of local Nairobi dance music and western beats. Outside, a courtyard provides a place to cool down or warm up! People huddle around open fire pits in the cool evening air.

7. Fang Fang Chinese restaurant

Phone number: +254 736 425302 Fang Fang is a Chinese restaurant located in an easy to find position on James Gichuru Road in Nairobi. It serves excellent food in covered patio overlooking the garden. It’s basic in its decor but if you’re looking for somewhere that your children run around while you eat and drink, this is a good place to come. The garden is spacious with some outdoor tables with large umbrella shades. A children’s playhouse and toys are there too. Inside there are some private rooms for dining.

It serves classic Lebanese and Middle Eastern dishes such as Tabboule, falaffel and Hoummous. The dishes are well presented with good service and the restaurant has a friendly and relaxing atmosphere for both lunch and dinner. The Phoenician also has a small but popular Sushi Bar with all the equipment and accessories imported specially from Japan! The Sushi Bar seats up to about 8 people, so it’s a cosy place to come and the food is said by many to be the best in Nairobi!

They say that they are the only restaurant in Kenya where the menu includes indigenous foods such as wild traditional mushrooms, bambara nuts, groundnuts and white ants. The preparation of some of these meals means sourcing for traditional food experts from the village. There are several branches of Amaica in Nairobi. Cuisine: Cafes Address: 4th floor, Bishop Magua Centre, Opposite Uchumi, Ngong Road,, Kilimani iHub is the a fantastic internet cafe, meeting place, and community, located just off the Ngong Road in Nairobi. It attracts travelers, locals and in particular, a plethora of internet savvy, freelance IT developers. iHub calls itself “Nairobi’s Innovation Hub for the technology community.” Whenever we’ve visited, the place is usually heaving with people; developing apps, networking, collaborating and working on exciting new projects relating to IT. If you want to know where the Silicon Valley of East Africa is, I would suggest you start here. Want to know why Kenya leads the world with Mobile Money technology? Look here! iHub has a thriving website and they also have notice boards (both online and physically at the iHub centre). Here people advertise work, events and IT related items. They also have forums for discussion and regular meetings where IT innovators, techies and just those interested in IT get together and discuss current issues in a friendly open way.

Its found in the Food Loft on the second floor. It covers Indian cuisine from from north to south, mild to hot and spicy, meat and fish to vegetarian. You can choose to eat in or take out and if you’re looking for delicious Indian food, this is the place!

17. Java House-Adams Arcade

Cuisine: International Address: Adams Arcade Shopping Centre, Ngong Road, Kilimani, Nairobi 00505 Phone: +254 (0)20 6092 +254 (0)3873583 Located in one of Nairobi’s oldest shopping arcades, Java Adams is the original branch. There is indoor & outdoor seating, free wireless internet a large concrete sculpture which young children just love to climb on and in. There’s ample parking and this is a convenient place for people to rest before or after “Mitumba Shopping” where you will find bargains galore in the nearby second hand clothes market. (the “Toy” market (named after the nearby Toy School), sells literally heaps of clothes, some of which are beautifully washed, ironed and displayed on hangers, others are set out like a jumble sale with tables of clothes to rummage through. It’s just 5 minutes away from Java house and is probably the most ex-pat friendly market in Nairobi. Java is open 7am to 8pm daily. Java House, is probably Kenya’s most successful coffee houses, having 10 thriving restaurants/coffee houses spread throughout the city.

18. Seasons Restaurant- Heron Portico Hotel

The Season’s restaurant has a dining hall, an airy balcony and a sunny patio for al fresco dining. You can eat in this relaxed informal atmosphere, with international cuisine and an African twist. The Heron Portico Hotel is a medium sized, mid to top end hotel located about 10 minutes from the city centre. It’s just a short distance from Statehouse in Nairobi. It has conference facilities and has around 100 rooms, a swimming pool, spa, gift shop and a fitness centre. It caters mainly to business travellers and locals.
